Poor guy, this must be so hard for him to explain that to her. I'm sure you'll do a super job in explaining and helping her throught this. I do think that the actual "mommy is in heaven" should come from him. He needs to tell her that himself and be there for her for at least that. I know it must be SOOO hard for him, but this is something I feel he should do .... for his daughter's sake

wow i must say your fab, for doing so much as well as handling youir own pregnancy.

your a fantastic woman and your doing a great job.
fun is the key to a happy toddler i think, and making boering things like cleaning fun helps aswell.
i get DD to help me clean she loves wiping the cupboard doors and tables she thinsg she is a big girl lol really cute and if she spills something she will clean it up.

helping in teh kitchen is great it gets them involved in the food and they tend to eat anything if they made it

Does she have any books that have beautiful angels in them?
You could try and explain that mummy is an angel now, etc.....

Thats ok, i just thought thats how i would probably explain it....
you could even get some glitter or something and then put a tiny bit in her hand, then if she wants to say good night to her mum, or even just talk to her you can tell her that when she blows the glitter off her hand it will take the message straight to mummy.......
or is that too much for her to understand do you think?

well because shes 3 and 8 months shes that little bit older where i think i could explain the way you said. She is quite smart and i think that would be a good way for her to conect. Her dad brought her a locket today that has a picture of him and her mother which i thought was nice of course she hasnt stoped opening and closing it. Oh and im happy to report we only had a bit of paint of the carpet and other than that accident free day! im getting better :D

My GF had her little girl wave to the stars at night and say goodbye to her little brother.....but that might be for later down the track. She does need to have something to cling to regarding her mum, I'm gald you spoke to her dad about it xoxoxo

EAT - I've just seen how old she is - she really does need to be told something, somehow. GL, you are doing a great job

there are some really good kids books that talk about grief and when someone dies. i will try get some titles for you.

Keep up the good work, such a lovely thing to do, i am so glad you spoke to her dad re what he has said but I do think mummy has gone away needs to be explained more to her. The glitter and stars are a lovely idea.

oh and i asked john about what he tells LJ when she asks about mummy. All John has said is shes gone away. I wasn't to keen on this and i told him i can help him explain to her and he agreed. So we are starting to work together on an action plan.

I think it's good that you are working on it together. I've read some of the suggestions and think they are great. I hope she can start to understand what's happened.
